Examples of How NodeXL can be used in Business Intelligence Analytics


Twitter is the buzz word in present day social networking. But is it only about pondering here and there, not knowing whom to follow or give attention to, to get the pulse of the happening thing? Not anymore! With NodeXL, you now know how to capture the heart beat of the peer group or the trend of the future.

In Twitter, the search for the word “Kahaani” ( A famous bollywood movie), with a limit of 300 samples, generated this graph.
It shows who are the influential people when an upcoming movie is discussed.


Right shows the search of “Nike Discount” and  left: “Adidas Discount”.
It reveals that the post of one brand is retweeted and replied more, revealing the effectiveness of its discount with comparison to the other.


Similarly, in Facebook account too, you can import the data from web and analyze them to extract a lot of    useful information. It may reveal who can be socially your most viable contact, which contacts are more strategic in gathering information, and who simply win by numbers, when a big group is all you need.

The picture shows a facebook network, with a 10o sample of friends, and their betweenness centrality, ie, who is the most well connected to the most of the group



In YouTube,  you can search for a keyword, and get all videos, tagged with that keyword. Thus it gives you an opportunity to find out any relevant video required. You can further cluster them to find out that for what broad purposes were each cluster of video uploaded.



In YouTube, search was made for “VGSOM” (The famous B-School of IIT Kharagpur)
When the obtained was clustered, the clusters revealed that the videos were uploaede for events like:
1.       Tata Crucible
2.       Saamanjasya
3.       Madison Avenue
4.       Farewell Programmes etc.
